Doeko introduces students to precision technology during Night of the Nerds

Doeko laat scholieren kennismaken met precisietechniek tijdens Night of the Nerds

Doeko looks back with pleasure on Night of the Nerds | Futurebites in Nijmegen 2026. During this event, pupils and students were introduced to technology, engineering and applications from the high-tech manufacturing industry.

For Doeko, this was a great opportunity to let young people experience how accurate and tangible technology can be. In our interactive demo, visitors could test how far they could move a pillar of the VASIM. That movement was measured at nanometre level. In this way, precision technology became visible in a playful and easy-to-understand way.

Inspiring young people about technology

The future of manufacturing starts with curiosity. That is why we believe it is important to show young people at an early stage what is possible within technology.

High-tech production is not only about machines. It is also about creativity, accuracy, problem-solving and collaboration. By letting pupils and students test and measure something themselves, they get a much more concrete idea of what working in technology can mean.

The Nijmegen region has a great deal of technical talent. Through initiatives such as Night of the Nerds, young people get the opportunity to meet companies, applications and fields of expertise they may one day work in themselves.

Making precision technology visible

At Doeko, we work every day on components, modules and systems where accuracy and repeatability are important. This kind of technology is not always immediately visible to people outside the industry. That is exactly why a practical demo is valuable.

By making movement measurable at nanometre level, it becomes clear how small differences can be and why precision is so important in the high-tech manufacturing industry. It shows that technology does not have to be abstract, but can be something you experience, explore and understand.

Investing in technical talent

For Doeko, taking part in events like this is more than visibility. It is a way to contribute to the development of technical talent in the region.

We want to show young people that the manufacturing industry is constantly evolving. Automation, precision mechanics, mechatronics and quality control come together in modern production environments where craftsmanship and technology strengthen each other.

Night of the Nerds once again showed how much curiosity and potential there is in the region. We are happy to help build on that.
