Shims define the character of a shock absorber. Through the structure and flexibility of the shim stack, the damping curve is tuned to speed, load and riding style. This makes shims essential for grip, stability and ride comfort.

Doeko has been producing high-quality shims for leading manufacturers in motocross, rally, circuit racing and road racing since the 1980s. What started with production for WP Suspension has grown into a global range of around 600 shim types for professional applications.

Our shims are produced from high-quality spring strip steel, using micron-accurate tooling developed in-house. This ensures repeatable quality, long service life and consistent performance, which is essential for reliable damping under demanding conditions.

Spring strip steel

Only the very best for our shims

We use the very best precision strip steel available for the production of our high-quality shims. The strip steel is hardened and tempered for applications where environmental and fatigue conditions are extreme.

The precision strip steel is a martensitic chromium steel alloyed with molybdenum. It offers better corrosion resistance and higher wear resistance than conventional ASTM 420-type steel.

Doeko shims are characterised by tight dimensional tolerances that enable precise fine-tuning of the oil flow and damping curve. This improved ability to fine-tune the shock absorber is one of the key factors in safety and comfort.

Can Doeko produce custom shims for specific shock absorber applications?

Yes. Doeko produces both standard shims and custom shims for specific shock absorber applications. If a standard size does not fit, shims can be produced based on the required inner diameter, outer diameter, thickness and application. This is relevant for suspension tuning, motorsport and damping systems.

ShockShim supplies shims in a wide range of inner and outer diameters, with diameters from approximately 6 mm to 46 mm. Available thicknesses vary depending on size and application. Through the ShockShim webshop, you can select standard shims and check which combinations are available. Doeko supplies shims with a thickness from 0.1 mm to 0.4 mm.

Doeko produces shock shims from 7C27Mo2, a high-quality spring strip steel. This material is suitable for shims because it combines strong spring properties, long service life and corrosion resistance. This allows the shims to perform reliably in demanding damping systems.

Standard shims ordered through ShockShim are usually shipped within 15 working days after ordering. The exact lead time may depend on availability, order size and destination. For custom shims, the lead time may differ because they have to be produced specifically.
